How do you know if your animals are suffering from magnesium deficiency? Magnesium deficiency is common in lactating ewes in the weeks after lambing, if they are not receiving an adequate supply of magnesium. Ewes suffering from magnesium deficiency tend to walk with a stagger, and collapse frequently. When ewes with magnesium deficiency become stressed, they will often collapse on their backs with legs extended, exhibiting involuntary muscle contractions. If any of your ewes are suffering from this condition, they need to be treated with a magnesium shot immediately.
Placing a Super Mag 15% magnesium block in the field with your flock will help to prevent recurrence of this problem in other ewes.
